📊 Latest CPI Figures

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for June 2026 is 4%, following previous quarters of 4.4%, 3.7% and 2.9%. We will apply any CPI rent increases that rely on the June figures and will contact you directly to confirm the details (if applicable to your lease).

🛡️ Landlord Insurance

Now is a great time to review your landlord insurance policies to ensure they provide adequate coverage for property damage, loss of rent, and liability. If you need assistance or recommendations, feel free to reach out.

Fire Safety

Commercial property owners are responsible for ensuring all required fire safety measures are regularly inspected, maintained and certified. Failure to comply can result in significant council penalties, prosecution and potential impacts on insurance coverage. If you're unsure whether your property's Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS) is up to date, please reach out to Tina or Susan.

Tobacconists as Tenants

From 1 July 2026, commercial landlords in NSW face new criminal liability under the Public Health (Tobacco) Amendment (Landlord Offences) Act 2026. A landlord who knowingly permits a tenant to sell illicit tobacco or vapes from the premises risks a fine of up to $165,000, 12 months' imprisonment, or both. A "reasonable excuse" defence is available, but the onus is on the landlord to prove it, the offence targets landlords who know what's happening and choose not to act.

✉️ New AML Laws for property sales

From 1 July 2026, new Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) laws apply to real estate transactions. As a result, all property owners selling or purchasing property will be required to complete identity verification and provide additional ownership documentation before a transaction can proceed.
